Born in New Zealand. Built alongside real clubs.
Octave began in 2020 as Club POS — a platform built, integrated and supported by Clubs New Zealand Incorporated alongside three pioneering NZ clubs. In 2025, development and support moved to OROCUBE LLC, the product was renamed Octave, and Clubs NZ continues as its New Zealand partner.
A modern platform, built because clubs deserved one
For decades, club managers in New Zealand ran their operations on software built for pubs, retail stores, or restaurants. Every night, staff stitched together reports from a POS that didn’t understand members, a spreadsheet for loyalty, and a separate tool for draws and adjourns. The tools were tired, the support was slow, and nothing was designed with a club’s specific workflows in mind.
Octave was born because clubs deserved better — a single, modern platform designed from the ground up for member-first operations, licensed bar environments, and the everyday reality of running a community club.
From Club POS to Octave — a five-year build
Every feature in Octave was shaped by a real NZ club facing a real operational problem. Here is how it unfolded.
Partnering with Clubs New Zealand
The project began as a direct collaboration with Clubs New Zealand Incorporated — the umbrella association representing clubs across Aotearoa — and its Technical Manager, Leigh Williams. Together we mapped out what a modern, NZ-centric club management platform should look like, and kicked off development with three pilot clubs as design partners. From day one, the product — then called Club POS — was integrated and supported directly by Clubs NZ.
Customising for New Zealand clubs
Over two years we built out the features NZ clubs actually needed — shaped by daily feedback from the three pilot sites:
- Club-grade bar inventory with complex unit conversions (kegs, cases, nips, handles)
- Membership renewal workflows designed around committee approvals
- Dine-in ordering, table management and kitchen ticketing
- Tax calculations built for NZ GST and mixed member/non-member pricing
- Adjourn management — the real club-floor workflow nothing else understood
- Salesforce connectivity linking member data into the clubs’ CRM
- Native EFTPOS payment integration
- Full offline mode — clubs in regions with unreliable connectivity could run a whole shift without the internet
- A three-phase gate control module for entry management
Integrated and supported by Clubs NZ
By 2022 the full NZ build — all three phases including the gate control module — was complete and running in production. Throughout these years, Clubs NZ directly integrated and supported Club POS for the clubs running on it, acting as the platform’s New Zealand home: the same organisation that had helped design the software was also the one fielding support calls and onboarding new sites.
Club POS becomes Octave
In 2025, Clubs NZ and OROCUBE LLC reached a mutual agreement: OROCUBE LLC would take over ongoing development and support of the platform going forward, while Clubs NZ would remain its trusted New Zealand partner — continuing to champion the software to clubs nationwide. In the same moment, the product was formally rebranded from Club POS to Octave, a name that captured the idea of many club workflows playing in harmony on one modern platform.
Every feature started with a club, not a roadmap
These are the modules the NZ pilot clubs asked for — the same ones every Octave customer gets today.
Bar Inventory & Complex Units
Kegs, cases, nips and handles — tracked with real club-grade unit conversions, not generic retail SKUs.
Membership Renewal
Renewal workflows built around committee approvals — the way clubs actually handle membership rollover.
Dine-In Service
Table management, order-to-kitchen flow, and the ability to attach every meal to the right member tab.
NZ Tax Calculations
GST handling and mixed member / non-member pricing — built for the NZ tax model from day one.
Adjourn Management
The real club-floor workflow that generic POS systems never understood — adjourn, re-open, reconcile.
Salesforce Connectivity
Two-way sync with Salesforce so member data stays aligned with the clubs’ CRM of record.
EFTPOS Integration
Native EFTPOS payment, not a bolt-on — because in a club, the payment terminal is part of the platform.
Full Offline Mode
Run a whole shift without the internet. Built for clubs in regions where connectivity is not a given.
Gate Control
Three-phase entry management module for access control at the door, shipped as part of the 2022 rollout.
The same partnership, a new chapter
From 2020 through 2024, Clubs NZ was the direct integrator and support home for Club POS — the organisation that both helped design the software and ran it day-to-day for the clubs on the platform.
In 2025, Clubs NZ and OROCUBE LLC mutually agreed to transition ongoing development and support to OROCUBE LLC, and to rebrand the platform as Octave. Clubs NZ continues as Octave’s trusted New Zealand partner — still the same organisation that shaped the platform from day one, now championing it to every club in Aotearoa.
Still built the same way — with clubs, not for them
Octave is a product of five years of listening to club managers, bar staff, treasurers and committee members — and then shipping the software they asked for. That is how we started in 2020, and that is how we still work today. Every new module, every release, every partnership begins with the same question: what does the club actually need?
